The ADC was not run as a competition to see who could create the coolest or best selling application for the Android platform. The idea was to showcase some of the cool and exciting things that can be done ONLY on the Android system or things that other phone OS's are not doing. Keep in mind the Android will be competing with iPhone and Nokia products so showcasing differentiating products will help Android grow, help the Android development community and help us all make money on cool applications that we write.
I know it is easy to take the competition results as a judgment on the quality of your application but the judgment was not on how well they think your app will sell or how much the Android phone owning community will want your application. I went into this hoping for the best of course and didn't win, but that is not going to keep me from continuing work on my application which I really feel will be appreciated and enjoyed by the owners of Android powered phones. I am not forgetting what I got into this for in the first place, it wasn't to win some short term goal of this competition (although it would have been nice), but to be involved in the GREAT idea that Google has here. Android opens up a lot of doors for us all and gives the average phone consumer a really nice phone user experience. Google has fought for us all to allow consumers to purchase their own hardware and run whatever they want on it! Up 'til now wireless companies have rained down their craptastical phones upon us and forced us to deal with expensive useless phones. I want to say THANK YOU GOOGLE! I didn't win the first challenge but I will be offering up a cool application that consumers can purchase and enjoy in a way that before was not available before Google stepped in. P.S. yes, iPhone will do this too but for other wireless carriers Google is making a big change On May 18, 9:43 am, "Cow Bay" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > your words sound reasonable by the first hearing but understand it to be > brain-damaged. > > if adc 2 will employ the same judges and the same criteria the same way as > adc 1, it is only the other ha-ha. > > most of all, this is not a community of google, winners and you. > > please learn to listen to voice from the others. > > if you cant, please leave. > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "denisdsr20" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "Android Challenge" <android-challenge@googlegroups.com> > Sent: Sunday, May 18, 2008 4:12 AM > Subject: [android-challenge] Re: Boycott of ADC II > > > Not sure to really understand the trouble. > > > With ADC I we tried to be in the winner list but we know that 98% of > > us will not be in this list. > > > ADC I is a contest some win some not. > > > People here are merging too much different things : > > - the contest > > - Google as a whole > > - Android as a new product > > - Apps we wrote > > > Contest : it's passion oriented with gratification, pains and > > frustation, but it's over now.
