Sorry ConAim but "VERY locked down" is the right word for the iPhone.
Couple cases in point: 1) A background "Service" cannot be run on the iPhone. That means the majority of the ADC I submitted apps wouldn't work on the iPhone. 2) Apple will only let you onto the iPhone (a) if they agree it's in their best interests & (b) if you give them a 30% slice of the app cost. Talk about being locked-down and control freaks. You can't get much more than that. This is a MAJOR step backwards for open distribution of software. My Palm Treo & Windows Mobile phones allows me to install any app available through a cable sync...and of course neither Palm nor that other supposedly evil company, Microsoft, takes a cut. Like I said, if everyone that's posting the hate letters are so disappointed in Google and love Apple so much, then why are you still in this group? Go to the iPhone dev site for a few months. We'll welcome you back once you've seen the other side of your dark reality. - biosopher --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Challenge" group.
