Can't find the link right now, but the fake Instagram app made the news: http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/photography/instagram_byzxr.html It got a whole lot of rankings in no time, apparently most users just though 'if it has that much ratings, it must be safe', and installed it. Of course, the 'malware' hype was vastly exaggerated, apparently it was just using rather aggressive ads. Have you tried using the app in question?
