Talking about cranky. At the risk that this comes across as harsh,
I'll say: this seems to be coming with the turf.

Cupcake.

Perfect example, again. I didn't follow it closely, just to safe my
sanity.
A simple "yeah, we're working on it, stand by" from the Castle's
marketing people a few months ago would have changed craze into
anticipation.
Now one will argue that Apple is secretive about their stuff as well.
But there is a frame of reference for consumers, developers,
stakeholders in general. The last piece I bought from Apple was an
outgoing iMac G3 right after the next iMac was introduced at Macworld.
Everybody counted on that event (the formula changes now, but there IS
a formula) for one reason or another. It was a ritual and everybody
knew something interesting would be coming out of there.
With Google it's like a big swamp where everybody sinks to their knees
in mud.
Even THIS kind of discussion we had over and over and there seems no
progress in relating to the outside world what's going on on the
inside. Heck, over the last year or so, the most reliable source of
information has been the WSJ! What gives? (I know you're an engineer
but still - do you guys talk to your people about these kind of
frustrations to change it for the better?)
