I have a suspicion that this may all be missing the point. The point is that the days of the "dumb" phone are numbered. What we currently call a "smartphone" will simply be a phone in 2-3 years; every phone sold will be be running a smartphone OS. And with the size of the OHA, the bulk of those will be Android. Nokia may be clinging to Symbian (or it may not), Palm & RIM will still be trying to hold their enterprise niche, and of course Apple will still be selling iPhones to the faithful. But the bulk of "regular phone users" will be using Android, and probably not even realize it. At the same time, the versatility of our favorite mobile OS will engender a wide range of devices. I predict large-screen game consoles replacing the PSP, various versions replacing dedicated GPS receivers, media-oriented devices streaming Internet radio, and of course the netbook wing of the party. But that's all on top of the standard-issue candybar or flip phones that everybody and his brother is carrying. Android will be on all these types of devices. Just remember, it's VERY early days yet, and we currently have only one consumer Android handset. This ball is just starting to roll.
