$70 a month is fairly typical here in the US as the lowest price (maybe
someone can point to even less expensive subscriptions). I think it is
good for developers to have the "user experience" and you may not have
that from a developer phone. And if you don't want a phone devices are
beginning to appear that can run the apps too.

And $400 is a lot to lose. If you're concerned about losing your
money, just buy a cheaper phone! I'm sure you have deals like the ones
