I've worked with the maps extensively over the years and it has been a
great experience right from the start. Google assigns dedicated
"developer advocates" to the task and works very hard to keep us
happy. Their maps API's (v3) are up to date and very easy to work
with. I've had a series of sites up for over 5 years with zero
downtime. These sites make me a very handy living and allow me to play
with things like Android.

Perhaps I'm too close to Google to be subjective.
