Some of the Google staff do read and respond on some of the more technical 
Android mailing lists, but I suspect it's the usual corporate situation of the 
information we'd like being covered by an NDA or not being finalised enough for 
them to make a reliable comment.

Apart from that it's sometimes better to let the conversation run without 
interfering just to see where the community takes it as opposed to steering it 
in a specific direction.
