There have been businesses throughout the ages paying protection money to thugs because it's cheaper than the alternative.
I'm a business man, not a idealist. If it costs a few bucks a month to keep these parasites off my back, then I'd rather pay that then 1000 times the amount for another type of parasite, namely a lawyer.
