Essentially, they want 0.575% of sales. This hardly seems like an amount large enough to worry about. After reading this post from Lodsys, I've decided to go ahead with in-app purchases instead of using an unlocking app. If you look at the https://market.android.com/details?id=apps_topgrossing list in the market, virtually all of those apps use in-app purchase.
