Apologies in advance to those on the list not in the US...

LLCs are a relatively recent phenomenon. An S Corp can get you a limited
tax advantage, if you can justify a "salary" that's less than the max
you would pay Social Security taxes on, which is $106,800. That would be
hard for me to do, having made more than that for years as an employee.

I understand that you can potentially file for taxes "as an S Corp"
federally even if your business is an LLC, though; please check with a
tax attorney to verify that what I've heard is correct and legal and all
that, though.
