When someone I don't know communicates with me in "text speech" (or whatever it's called), I think of them as sloppy and disrespectful. If someone can't take the time to type out the actual words and form them into complete sentences, then how can I possibly think otherwise?

I'm probably just an old geezer with old fashioned ideas of etiquette.

Having an app that is particularly popular among the 13-17 set, I can say that nearly 30-40% of the messages I receive are in full on "text speech", though the rest make an effort.

Whether this means that the standard will change over time, I don't know. But what I do know is that those customers ARE in my target market, considering that I make a lot of money off of ads.
