Can you expect to see a noticeable spike in revenue in your own Admob stats?

No, it is not some magic box that I am aware of.

So, not only do you expect magic, you expect instant magic? If you did get
a spike, how would you even know it was because of those ten dollars?

If your marketing advisor is telling you this sort of baloney, you need to
fire them. I'm being blunt, but since I care, I will tell you the right
questions to ask.

If you can answer three questions, you can crack the advertising thing.

1. What did it cost you to get a new install through Admob?

You don't know? Well you have no business advertising if you won't or can't
even track that.

It's pretty easy math. If you spent $10 and got ten installs, each install
cost you $1.

2. How much is a new install from Admob worth to you?

Do you know how much revenue you get per install? If not, you have no
business advertising.

You can probably determine through Admob alone the average revenue from
each user over time.

Ideally, you would find out if a new install from Admob is worth more or
less than. To do this, you would track your users that installed because of
admob ads and determine how long they stay installed, how many ads they
click, and how much ad revenue they make.

3. Is #2 > #1? Simple math again.

If so, gradually pour your life savings into Admob. Keep tracking as you
go, though. There's no guarantee the math will hold up for a larger volume
or longer time.
If it does, you will soon be a rich man.

If not, stop, or do something differently.

One thing is to change targeting. Oh, but wait, this is Admob. Last I
checked, Admob doesn't know the meaning of the word targeting. They just
want to be the magic box. That's why I've never used them.
