I got a free $100 from AdMob and spent it all in 2 days. Despite MILLIONS of impressions and thousands of clicks, I received no more than about 10 installs per day AT MOST (the data was rather noisy) for that $50/day spent.
Making the $0.75/verified install that Flurry (IIRC) was offering suddenly sound like a good deal (compared to $5/install). Except that my app wasn't making me $0.75/install, so I would have needed to spend a LOT to get it up in the charts and hope that it stayed there.
