If the patch seemed to make a difference but didn't solve your problem,
then my guess is that you're seeing a similar but slightly different
problem to the one that the patch addresses.

Of course, if I had an OSX machine to troubleshoot and debug on ...

If you could temporarily give me a shell on your test box, I might be
able to take a look at it ...
