The other side of the coin: if you added up who much could be obtained through the marketing, recylcing and donating of materials that the law allows to be marketed, recylced and/or donated as well as the pay, benefits and liability insurance to do it and compared that with the price tags on new purchases - the total gained wouldn't buy very much.
