I also have experimented with using the Klos dialer. I found it much more
difficult to set up than the dialer provided with Arachne. I was successful
in getting it to work, but all things considered, I found no advantage in
using it.

I also run Net-Tamer from time to time, but I have a much higher opinion of
it than you do <g>. If you were successful in getting Net-Tamer to run in
your machine, then I don't think you have any problem with your modem, nor
do I think you have a comport conflict. Furthermore, this indicates to me
that the ISP is not presenting you with any obstacles to running any other
DOS internet clients. This is a very good sign.

Most ISPs, including mine, will tell you that they don't support DOS. This
usually only means that they either don't know how, or they just don't want
to help.

As I recall, I believe you told us that you are running a 286 machine having
only 640K memory. If that is the case, in order to conserve memory, then you
should not consider running any DOS version higher than 3.31. Don't load
any TSR's. Don't even load a mouse driver. After you succeed in making a
connection, then we will see what we can do about loading a mouse driver.

All the best,

Sam Heywood
