I don't know how many, or if any, of you are in the situation I am. So
I don't know if any of you can make comparisons.

I have noticed that, when in TCP/IP setup with the NIC, certain
processes seem to take much longer -- longer even that using SmartDrv
vs. Norton's Ncache would seem to cover.

When I'm dialing in, on-line or off, things like sending mail to the
trash can happen very rapidly. I select, click, and 1-2-3 it's done and
the next message is up for me to see.

But when I'm in the NIC setup it seems to take forever to do simple
things like sending mail to the trash can, or getting the next piece of
mail up and ready to be read.

I also notice that everytime I do "trash can" or whatever, I get a
message on the "what's up" line that says something like 'Configuring
via DHCP/BOOTP' before my next screen writes.

Why?

Why does Arachne apparently have to "configure" after certain actions?

Why does Arachne slow down internal processing when using NIC? Polling
or ???

Like Bernie said when he told me how to modify toolbar [Thanks, Bernie
... it's working fine now in 1.61] it's not like I even have to hang up
when I'm on a LAN/WAN setup.
