I have just tested with cache test 4.1

smartdrv from msdos 7.0 (aka win95) smartdrv 6000 (8.72)
nwcache from drdos 7.03 nwcache 6000 /x /delay=1000 (8.89)
ncache2 from norton utilities ncache2 /ext=6000 /delay=01.00 (8.39)

So indeed norton cache is by 4% faster than smartdrv.
Nwcache is by 2% slower than smartdrv.

Smartdrv is IMHO the only program here, that also caches CD-ROMS.

So generally the difference is so small, that it shouldn't be noticeable.
(the test program is VERY unrealistic, because no program would write and
read the HDD in different and non predictable manner for nearly 10 seconds.
This is only done, that you can see ANY difference ;)

Bernie you are absolutely right !

But it would be easier to simply look at the registration bar.
(it also tells your IP, and than there is a tcp.eek)

LD, you know that I am in the same situation as you.
But I'm lucky, I have a pseudo static address.
(they don't admit, that it _IS_ static, but in reality it is, eg I don't
get new IP ...)

So simply look if your IP changes, if NOT than you are lucky, and can
simply insert these static values into Arachne !! (I do it so !)
