Bad news, gang. I heard it through the grapevine that FreeWWWeb is in the process of
being sold and that Juno is the rumored buyer. If this is the case, chances are we can
kiss their DOS-friendly, bannerless service good-bye.
I hope that's not the case, but those of you using FW as your primary ISP might want
to start looking around for another as a back-up. I haven't tried it with DOS yet, but
we just added DialFree as our freebie provider at http://accessmasters.com . It's
bannerless, non-platform-specific and free, but requires you to fill out a survey once
each month.
I think I remember someone on this list saying that 1NOL (One Nation Online -
http://www.1nol.com/) worked for them, so you might want to check that out as well.
Any other suggestions? I just thought I'd give you all a heads-up in case the Juno
rumor is true.
