Perhaps because it's undoable? You can not change the way Arachne handles
those mentioned on this line in mime.cfg:
;Arachne understands four basic file types: HTM, GIF, BMP, TXT and ASF.
So you are out of luck with that idea (although it would have worked)

I think that somehow Karen has missunderstood what Arachne can do, secure
sites can't be accessed, yet anyway, and if you need to chat you will use
an external program anyway. Since you can't see the graphics I don't see a
point in using a graphical browser and I would suggest using Lynx instead
for browsing the web and your current mailer for e-mail.
Of course you could perhaps hit the P key (not the Print Screen key) with
this change to the file print.ah in the system\gui sub directory in Arachne.

And the file should now contain the following line (you can have this as
the only line if you want to).
<META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="0; URL=file://printprn.dgi">

In case you really want to test this and writing that file is hard for you
(perhaps there's no cut-and-paste in your mailer, what do I know?) I can
send you a file.

Still there's no way I can help you with finding out on what link you are
on. In theory a text-only version of Arachne could be made, but it would
IMHO be too much work to be worth it since there already exist text-only
browsers.
