But Protected Mode on the 286 is not very good.You can't switch 
back to Real Mode without a reboot...

The 386 was Intel's first move towards a (very) powerful computer.

It supported a lot of instructions and other features to provide pre-
emptive multitasking, addressing more memory, as well as a lot of 
speed etc.
