Anything that could cause the DIRS not to be updated and the FATS not to be
re-written promptly can, and will, lead to serious damage if these jobs get
forgotten or interrupted - which can happen if software crashes..
Whether Smartdrv and delayed writes can play a role in this confusion is
unknown - probably to all but the smartdrv authors.
Circumstantial evidence has linked delayed writing in general and Smartdrv
in particular to corrupted and cross-linked files.
Although I have TWICE been the personal victim of this effect, I am not
alone wanting to be more secure.
