I've downloaded and installed Bobcat, Knots, Skipper and most versions
of Arachne going back several years. I'm somewhat familiar with Minuet.
I used Nettamer for awhile on an XT several years ago.
It's true that development has stopped on Knots and Minuet (as far as
I know)
Lynx source code was released some time ago by the University of
Kansas and it's now a GNU open source type project. Lots of work
contunues to be done on it. I installed a Lynx variant, Bobcat,
just last week. It was simple and easy to install and works just
fine.
Skipper is under active development by New Deal. I downloaded the
evaluation version a few days ago. I haven't been able to get it
to work and I got tired of futzing with it.
I think Spin is still being developed. I went to their site recently.
It looks interesting, but I haven't downloaded it. It does look
like it *might* provide some competition for Arachne.
But, in my book, nothing beats Arachne in DOS.
The point of my mentioning http://www.fdisk.com was to provide a link
where people could check this stuff out for themselves. The information
there is far more detailed and accurate than I can summarize from
memory.
