I'm talking about Lynx386, the 32-bit (Djgpp) DOS port of Lynx.
In any case, it supports online news reading and posting (not
web-based a la deja/google).

Trumpet (shareware) is also an online newsreader.

I download over 500 Usenet articles every day using uka_ppp and
Yan (ka9q) and read them offline with Yarn. I have also tried
Snews, MultiMail, rnr and a few other DOS offline newsreaders.

I mentioned elsewhere how I import individual news or e-mail
messages into an Arachne folder when I want to follow embedded
links. Articles containing html go to /dev/null.

It doesn't bother me that Arachne doesn't "do" news.

That's your problem. I don't send e-mail replies to those kind
of posts either.

I heard you the first time, but I didn't hear you say 16-bit only.

Correct.
