It also violates the "named"(Fixed) user license. Fixed users are defined as a single account used by one person only. You can use read only access with submitter mode locked to allow people to Submit and Modify records that they submitted. Read Restricted accounts can submit but even in submitter locked mode cannot modify records. Your best bet is to change your design, use read restricted access an make everything a submit. Your modified entries would be child entries of the original parent record. As long as you don't use workflow and a fixed account to automatically update the children into the parent record you are not violating any license agreements.
