I agree with both of you as well. With ARS7, I spent perhaps a day playing with some of the new features until I figured them out well enough to use them. Things haven't changed that radically with ARS.
As far as the job requirement posted here that was over 1050 words long, I do believe that they are looking for everything listed and will expect to get someone with those skills. I'm 99% sure that is a job at BMC. I was there for a portion of the implementation of CSS, and I can see how they would reasonable need all of those skills. However, I personally would suggest they hire multiple people for that work. There's too much there for one person to handle well. You can't be working on the details of coding a Java program to integrate a couple of things with Remedy, then turn around and manage teams in a global environment, then turn around and do the user training. It's simply not realistic, and is setting up the person they hire to fail. A lot of us are capable of doing all of those things, but to do them all at once is excessive. On top of that, their salary is good, but you can get one within that range with a more straightforward job in Houston. My initial ITSM deployment was with a background similar to Shawn's, and my experience was similar. The first time one is exposed to the ITSM 7 apps, there's a huge learning curve involved as you find out how things are done. After that, it's much better. I don't know that "multiple deployments" is a realistic requirement, especially at the scale they're talking about, because those projects take a while. But expecting a candidate to have been through it at least once is certainly a reasonable requirement. But you're right, Gary, about the ARS v7 experience. If you are experienced with v6, you can figure out the v7 delta in a few hours, and look it up if necessary later on.
