We have it set to delete all inbound email in the mailbox after it is polled.
So we should never have a backlog in the mailbox, we have the polling set every 5minutes. We have turned on Debug mode; so just have to wait to see if it fails again. We have found that a relatively small number of emails that accumulate there slow down the polling so much that it times out and can't complete polling. We delete all mail after two days so usually the most mail we have in there will be < 8000 messages. The least amount of mail the better.
