Please note that 8.0 Midtier onwards IE7 won’t work. Yes, one would get performance gain in newer versions of midtier and additional security fixes. Copy to new should work fine with Midtier upgrade. It would work fine with custom forms; the whole feature copy to new is not fully consumed in Applications and there would be gaps with respect to the said feature in Applications.
