There are two primary reasons of population growth in Assam (Anybody with basic
intelligence and knowledge of Assam can understand it) :-

1. Persistant illegal migration of Bangladeshis
2. High birth rate of migrant peoples

With Assam not remaining the favourite destination for the Bangladeshis the
population growth due to reason-1 is going to be decreased anyway. Also, we can
deport any illegal immigrant if caught.

We should be more concerned for the reason-2.
In a few decades We will become minority in our own land if this trend is not
reversed.
The interested party has succeeded in making these ILLEGAL immigrants LEGAL by
introducing IMDT and other backdoor measures. We all know, the IMDT was a BIASED
act to help the Bangladeshis. The damage is already done.
also, it will not be of much help if the still persisting migration is stoped
totally.

In the interest of Native peoples we should take a BIASED measure too!
Like, we can demand for Compulsory Birth Control measure for the Ethnic
immigrants. if thats not enough, demand for containing in ONE CHILD per couple
for the immigrants.

We know, that is a BIASED demand. but, IMDT was BIASED too!

Thanks to Rabin for the explanation. I shall need more time to understand and
digest the information. From his e-mail I understand that he is quite good at
interpreting birth rate and population growth. In this regard I have a question:

Print as a well digital publication is full of population growth in Assam. But
I have not come across any number. It is taken for granted that this growth is
due to illegal immigration from Bangladesh.

My question is:
is it also not possible that a part of this growth is due to the early marriage
of Bengali girls?

In spite of the fact that we have a law which prohibits child marriage, in my
recent trip to Assam, I was informed that 15/16 years old girl also get married
and after a year becomes mother. Their children then again get married at an
yearly age. A grand mother at around 40 years is no exception.

I may be wrong.
But is it not possible that this also is another reason of population growth in
Assam ?
Is there any where this type of data available?

Wahid

At last, I have looked at the Census of India data as Sanjoy Hazarika asked.
see - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/assamonline/message/2721
He has asked other member(s) too, to look at the Census of India data
see e.g. - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/assamonline/message/2746

It seems here too Sanjoy got Nagaland Birth Rate and Population Growth numbers
wrong.

As I wrote before,
I have asked the question, "What is the Birth Rate of Nagaland?"
Because population growth may not always be tied up to Birth Rate, and Naga
race is a rare bran of Mongoloid - not highly fertile due to the biogenetic
recipes in their body.
see - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/assamonline/message/2877

Now I see Nagaland has much better Birth Rate in comparison to Sri Lanka India
and Bangladesh. So the high population-growth in Nagaland is because of
Immigrants. Not because of Nagaland Birth Rate - one should look at the numbers.

How to look at the numbers:
(a) Live population of Nagaland in year 2001 = 1,988,636
       Re - http://cyberjournalist.org.in/census/cenindia.html
(b) Live population of Nagaland in year 1991 = 1,209,000
       Re - http://www.censusindia.net/data.html
Therefore,
      Nagaland population-growth ratio in 10 years = (a - b)/b = 0.64486
This gives population-growth ratio per year = 0.064486

How to convert the population-growth
ratio per year = 0.064486 to Crude Birth Rate (CBR)?

By definition, CBR is "number of live birth" per 1000, so you need to multiply
0.064486 with 1000. This gives CBR = 64.45 ("each year flat" for 10 years
during 1991 to 2001)

In year 1991 Nagaland CBR was 18.5 NOT 64.45
     Re - http://www.censusindia.net/data2.html

Similarly,
in year 1992 Nagaland CBR was 19.2 NOT 64.45
in year 1993 Nagaland CBR was 20 NOT 64.45
in year 1994 Nagaland CBR was 20 NOT 64.45
    Re - http://www.censusindia.net/data/ngl.pdf

In year 2004 Nagaland CBR was 13.9 much better than past years
  Re - http://www.censusindia.net/vs/srs/bulletins/SRS_Bulletin-April_2006.pdf

Now if you compare CBRs of Bangladesh, India, Nagaland and Sri Lanka for year
2004 you see that Nagaland has the best CBR and Bangladesh has worst.

Nagaland CBR = 13.9
http://www.censusindia.net/vs/srs/bulletins/SRS_Bulletin-April_2006.pdf
Sri Lanka CBR = 15.88
http://www.indexmundi.com/g/g.aspx?c=ce&v=25
India CBR = 22.8
http://www.indexmundi.com/g/g.aspx?c=in&v=25
Bangladesh CBR = 30.03
http://www.indexmundi.com/g/g.aspx?c=bg&v=25

What can be concluded?
   (a) Nagaland has much better CBR in comparison to Bangladesh
   (b) Nagaland's high population growth is because of Immigration
   (c) ... ... ...

This completes my review for Nagaland CBR, any question or "critical question"
feel free to ask.

Hello Sanjoy,
If you want people to understand all about it you must write an article with
facts and publish in your Statesman newspaper.

Rabin
