Ya, a lot of people don't like Alison's original recordings. I would not say they were unprofessional though since Alison is a professional voice artist who does work for many large companies.
In any case there are several companies that have re-done the recordings but mostly they are alternative language packs including UK English. I'm sure if you google you can find them. Unfortunately, there is not a free alternative US English version, though there is one you can pay for. You also might be interested to know that Digium as re-recorded all the sounds and the new sounds are in Beta at the moment (will be included with Asterisk 1.4). They still use Alison's voice but her intonations are quite different. Some might say "more professional". Here is the link: http://ftp.digium.com/pub/telephony/sounds But I can assure you they are not ready for production. The spacing is off for many of the numbers and phrases but if your desperate you could always pick & choose the ones you want and edit them yourself. Another bonus is the new sounds come in all formats including ulaw so they have higher quality as well. BTW, for the curious, Alison lives in Calgary: http://www.theivrvoice.com/ John On Tue, 2006-08-29 at 12:30 -0400, Chuck Mariotti wrote: > Well, it's official...
