My experience trying FXOs goes back some time, so there are now product available that I have not tried. Here's what I tried:
- Clone of Digium single port FXO PCI card - Real Digium single port FXO PCI card (tried 3) - Digium TDM-400 (configured for 2 x FXO) - Sipura SPA-3000 (was part of the beta group) - FXO on Zultys 4x5 SIP phone None were satisfactory. The Sangoma card was announced but not yet delivering when I gave up and went a wholly IP based route. I polled the Asterisk Users mailing list asking about many of the small FXO adapters that are around, but noone responded in a positive way. Many were not yet SIP capable and had only shaky firmware moving in that direction. The Zultys phone showed promise as the port was built right into the phone, along with a router with QoS. However, their support policies and processes were terrible. In the beta software that was aware of the FXO it was only available as a "lifeline" to be used when IP connectivity was lost. Incomming calls on that line could not be forwarded to the server for VM, etc. Later software was supposed to have overcome this but neither the company nor the reseller could tell how to set it up. The company said that all support was provided by resellers. The resellers simply didn't have the information.
