Apologies - I needed to give more info... > Having the "DHCP discover during the RUNNIX load" failing is > not unusual, since the 'first' ethernet interface in RUNNIX > may not be your chosen EXTIF ethernet interface in AstLinux, > don't let that bother you.
The box was originally set up with EXTIF = eth0. Runnix DHCP failed with this, though eth0 was connected to a DHCP-enabled LAN, so it should have obtained a lease. I then changed EXTIF to eth1 and moved the cable to that port, just to rule out hardware failure of the Soekris eth0. I would therefore expect the Runnix DHCP request to fail now, as it obviously does. > (assuming DHCP on EXTIF is desired)... Apologies - it is not. I only mentioned it because the Runnix DHCP request failed. The box is set up with a static IP address for EXTIF. > show anything? Of not, DHCP failed. Upstream may be the > problem. Possibly fix the EXTIP with a static address and gateway. Hence, this is the set up as it is, and which is failing. Apologies for the lack of clarity, and thanks for the help - any other ideas?
