I just ordered the new SB3. I chose it specifically because I want to have a device with a coaxial digital output that I can send to my Theta Digital DAC. I am eager to compare the different outputs from the squeezebox (analog and digital) as well as the effect of different codecs. Given that the reviewer is using a rather old DAC, mine is pretty old too, it is somewhat surprising that he could even hear differences. I would think the analog output of the SB3 is pretty good. Anyway, it's nice to have all those different options. As memory and bandwith are both becoming less of an issue these days, we might in the future all just being using lossless codecs (like FLAC), so I'm not really too concerned about mp3 quality, especially since I own most of the CD's that I rip.
