Well, the beauty of a device like the Transporter is that you no longer need a line stage (unless you have multiple sources, of course). The best line stage is no line stage.
People will argue all sorts of things. But, trust me: most well-built solid state amps these days are all very good. You don't need to spend a fortune. If you have a great source, like the SB3 or a Transporter, then spend money on great speakers. My $9k speakers were MUCH more involing with a $400 amp than my $4k speakers with $2,500 amps. And, the diffeference between the $400 and $9k amps with the $10 speakers was palpable, but rather small compared to a change in, say, my DAC. khewa;141337 Wrote: > what about the preamp ? is that more important than the amp or they're > on the same level ? some people say the pre amp is the most important > link in the chain . -- highdudgeon SB3->Lavry DA10->Nuforce 9.02s->Harbeth Monitor 30s/Skylan stands. Simple and satisfying. In a larger room, I would move back to larger speakers, subs, and probably RCS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ highdudgeon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2195 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28057 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
