Peoples intent is irrelevant for blind testing. What is conciously
percieved is just a small part of what is being processed by our
brains.

Even if 86dB sounds like a highish volume I suspect the music didn't
pump out that level continously?

Arms raised might be in the level where it may well influence the
sound. Especially when the sound is a phantom image created by two
distinct sound sources. (Not comparable to the sound coming from an
actual musical instrument.)
