Pat - I'd generally agree, except my take on this is that "studio" monitors tend to be more accurately revealing at the top end....tending towards ruthless. This in turn leads to one of two effects:
This ruthlessness causes the top end to be tamed by the listener during mixing/mastering thus guranteeing it will sound reasonably pleasant domestically or The ruthlessness is "tuned-out" by the ears/brain of the mix/master engineer, producer etc who become immune to it...and the resultant recordings are quite "hot" at the top end. Interested in your experiences of this Pat. Of course we know that a seasoned professional (!) will listen on all sorts of playback setups before finalising a mix/master...don't we ;o) -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal... ...SB3+TACT+Altmann+MF DACXV3/Linn tri-amped Aktiv 5.1 system and some very expensive cables ;o) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Phil Leigh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=85 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=37059 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
