Some more so than others. One man's accuracy is another's ruthless.

Nearly all studio nearfields have a fair number of controls on the back,
to match levels, apply high-cut and low-cut filters, etc. This is so you
can adjust the amount of ruthless to suit.

I don't know, consumer speakers tend to be less ruthless, or colored,
or not accurate, depending on your definitions.

Most mixing engineers want "truth" in monitors, but mix on different
speakers, or do things like cut a quick cassette/CD to listen to in the
car on the way home. That is also why you still see NS10s in so many
control rooms.

And mastering engineers, who are minor gods in the chain, want truth,
but they tend to listen on many different types of speakers including
some that are clearly audiophile stuff.

Its the producers, labels, and other evil folks, that insist on loudness
wars, causing no end of pain.

If they are professional, you bet. See above. But not all commercial
recordings have the same sensibilities.

Grunge is supposed to sound bad.

Its really all about personal taste, what do you want to hear.
A lot of audiophiles love tube amps, an no one can claim that they are
'accurate' they are voiced to have tone. Same with a lot of the
megadollar cables.
