Over several days, I listened to a whole bunch of albums over high end headphones, repeatedly switching inputs back and forth on the DAC at random intervals, but I was unable to hear any difference whatsoever between the Toslink and coax connections. I ended up sticking with the Toslink for the galvanic isolation (eliminates possible ground loops).
