Have you tried to perform the listening test with unpluging (at the DAC side) the coax cable while you are listening to the toslink? Given that most people here claim that they choose the Toslink over the coax and that a benefit of toslink is isolation, you might not do justice to your toslink in your test if you keep the coax cable connected, and therefore the potential effects of the ground loop still affecting the sound(if ever there is such an effect). I myself am wondering what is best for me, and for now I have a cheap plastic toslink. I used to have a very cheap plastic toslink, but it might have had an issue since I sometimes lost the signal... The reason why I didn't go further into (expensive) tests is that I already had some difficulty to hear a difference between my SB3+toslink and my CEC drive + XLR AES cable (the cable costing itself twice the price of a squeezebox). It came as a desapointment regarding my ability to wisely invest my money and I (temporarily I guess) gave it a break... -- Chinanico ____________________________________________________________________________________ CEC TL51X / SB3 > Audiomat Maestro > Jeff Rowland Concentra 2 > System Audio SA2K ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chinanico's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12794 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38188 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
