On the subject of HiFi Critic I had a long chat with Paul Messenger recently at a hi-fi show. He's a real gentleman. (Paul - if you're reading this - as agreed I'm identifying myself as "the guy with the Pink Floyd t-shirt"!)
HiFi Critic is a new magazine, and goodness knows we need a breath of fresh air in that industry. I applaud them for reviewing the computer-based players. Also, they don't have ads which helps their independence. I am a little disappointed so far that they don't employ any blind testing. There was a real opportunity to shake up the UK reviewing scene with that. Stereomojo stand out of for me as bucking the trend in this regard...I always read their "shootouts" with great interest. But as I said, HFC is new so introducing a bit of blind testing would be no U-turn. Also, I would like to see measurements in every review (the Transporter review didn't have any).
