You will get a lot more from upgrading your source. If you invest in wonderful speakers they will reveal in fine detail the limitations of your source.
Try the Lavry Black DA-10 DAC, which is magnificent. I demoed the Benchmark DAC-1 - it is very nice, smooth, detailed, quiet, but a bit too "polite" for my taste. I then tried and bought the Lavry and found it more involving and dynamic. Also very worthwhile is a linear power supply for the SB3. I am using the Bolder unit, and found it to be a significant upgrade.
