Because the SB3 uses 24 bits for its volume control, rounding errors (or "throwing away bits") are completely unimportant. They cause errors 144dB down from max level, which is far below the noise floor of the DAC (or any other component in your system, for that matter). What matters is just the signal/noise of the DAC. For best SQ use an analogue volume control to set things up so that max volume on the SB3 is as loud as you'll want, and then use the digital control from there. -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48368 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
