Turn the fridge off when you are listening to music. If it's only an hour or so and you don't open the door it will stay cold inside.
You could also unplug the DVR if it isn't scheduled to record any shows while you are listening. Our DVR, a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 is normally off but will turn itself on to record a show.
