Vacuum tubes need to reach some minimum temperature to operate, which is where the idea of "warm up" comes from. However, solid state electronics should be kept as cool as possible. For one thing, "thermal noise" aka "Johnson noise" is a direct consequence of analog circuitry being warm, but heat can also cause a variety of other problems such as amplifiers and power supplies overheating.
