I completely agree with solid state. My Ayre Mono Blocks have no OFF
switch even though they are Solid State. They are either in standby
idle drawing 45 watts or On at lidle drawing 120 watts. Over night I
drop them to standy for the 7 to 8 hours I am not playing music, but
never unplug them which is the only way to power them off. The
Transporter is always on by design with only being able to fall back to
standby. I have always left my tube gear on unless going on vacation, so
for my main system it is basically always on.

For a system on and playing music as much and as often as mine is,
would you not recommend that it stay on all the time? What is your
belief as to heat stress on equipment from warming and cooling everyday
day after day? It is not like I listen to my main system once every two
weeks, it is on daily for 12 to 18 hours. In this case is it not better
to never drop below standby? By the way, the huge heat sinks on the Ayre
Mono Blocks run very cool unless I am watching a movie or somebody wants
to hear what concert levels sound like in my main room. What is your
take Sean with these specific equipment usages?
