And did you have secure mode on? if so re-rip those 1000 discs in burst
mode and see how many failed against AccurateRip. You can also not take
the whole of CD drives as determined by 2. If you had 50 drives and
ripped 10,000 discs (on each drive) I would listen to your results
more. BTW I see the raw data coming into AccurateRip, no one else sees
that data...

If most errors were not recoverable then there would be no need for
secure rippers, if you put a 1000 damaged CDs through a secure ripper
you would see it recover. All drives have zones:

[Error Free Rips][Able to Recover Errors][Unable To Recover]

On very good drives the [Able to Recover Errors] section is quite
small, yes a secure ripper does not have much work to do, on poor
drives it is quite large.

I don't use datasheets, instead I rely on imperical evidence such as
AccurateRips raw data.
