I too agonised about this and in the end went for transporter. It is
simply brilliant - the displays are superb and for my purposes - the
perfect decision. I had planned all kinds of fancy ui's such as server
on TV, nokia770, duet controller etc - but the transporter with its ir
remote control and displays is by far the easiest and quickest way of
picking and playing music.

I also use the transporter IR blaster to control my preamp and PAs -
(the preamp is going eventually). Sound quality is on a par with my
previous source (arcam alpha CD - very highly modded) - with slight
differences rather than advantages/disadvantages

I have coupled in the arcam via a digital input on the transporter -
purely for the wife you prefers 'real' CDs. I think the DAC1 falls
short in various ways - though I'm sure it would sound very good. I was
also very impressed with the duet receiver analogue sound quality - far
better than most peoples 'hifi' though I did feel the transporter
outstripped it by a long way.

Cheers
