If you're happy with one analogue input, fair enough - that's a compromise I wouldn't want to make (what if you get another DAC for instance), and I expect a pre-amp to switch sources. Conversely, you might find my DAC would be too much of a compromise due to lack of optical inputs.
My amp has four analogue inputs; one has the DAC connected to it, another the Minidisc deck, yet another an iPod connector dock and the fourth is a phono stage. I've had to relegate the cassette deck due to lack of available inputs (though it wasn't being used anyway). I was thinking of the DAC1-Pre as (part of) an amp upgrade for my system, until I checked the specs, and saw how much more expensive it is than a normal DAC1 or USB in the UK. Hence my interest :) -- SJobson ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SJobson's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51868 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
