Clive - my use of the word "proper" was meant to imply "high quality" -
like Jensen!

Also, a balun is the correct technical way to do things - everything
else is actually a lash-up that just happens to work OK for most
folks.

One of the extra advantages of a balun is that it eliminates the
possibility of a ground-loop since the input and output are
galvanically isolated.

I don't think a line-level transformer of the sort we are discussing
here is going to be easily saturated at the levels in question.

Also, by tying one leg of the differential input circuit to ground, the
quality is already compromised... :o)

This is useful...

As always, YMMV.

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...SB3+Stontronics PSU - Altmann
JISCO/UPCI - TACT RCS 2.2X + Good Vibrations S/W - MF
Triplethreat(Audiocom full mods)- Linn 5103 - Aktiv 5.1 system (6x
LK140's, ESPEK/TRIKAN/KATAN/SEIZMIK 10.5), Townsend Supertweeters,
Kimber & Chord cables
Outdoors: Boombox+Creative Sub (If I remember to turn it on...)
